What’s Preventing You From Going Back To School?
Once you have hit the pause button on your education, it’s understandable that the decision to go back to school can seem quite daunting. But what’s preventing you from going back to school and earning your degree or diploma? A large percentage of those in today’s higher learning landscape are made up of adult learners who have gone back to school to earn or finish their degree.
No matter what your reason was for leaving school the first time, there is no reason you shouldn’t take this opportunity to go back and pursue your education to improve your career prospects, earn that promotion at work, or to expand your current skill set.
You may be thinking that going back to school will be too expensive and you can’t afford it. But most people who go back to school don’t pay the full cost of their education by themselves – knowing your financial aid options can be hugely beneficial.
If you are currently employed, one of the first things to do is find out if your employer has any tuition reimbursement programs to help cover the cost of school. There are also tax breaks to consider, like the Lifetime Learning Credit. Talk to an academic advisor to see if you may qualify for any scholarships or grants. And lastly, make sure to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine what financial aid, grants, or loans you may be eligible to receive.
Think you don’t have time for school? Think again. Even if you are working or have a family, there are ways to make your class schedule work for you. While tackling classes on top of everything else you have going on in your life can be challenging, it’s a challenge that is hugely rewarding.
Many schools, including Arizona College, have flexible schedules and understand that students who are busy adults have various scheduling needs. It isn’t necessary to take a full course load every semester – you can attend school part time with our convenient morning and evening classes to accommodate most schedules.
