Kick-start your Career with the Career Services Department
Arizona College has a Career Services Department that provides many services for you as a student during your educational journey. We feel that the relationship our students have with their Career Services Coordinator is crucial. It is important to get to know your Career Services Coordinator toward the beginning of your enrollment and to keep in contact. The Career Services Coordinator is the students “wing man” to help in important tasks throughout their program. Career Services assists the students in many ways, including:
- Assign externship sites
- Review cover letters, resumes and reference documents
- Conduct mock job interviews
- Offer employment and interviewing technique tips
- Provide leads for job openings and arrange interviews as applicable
- Assist in the general job search process for all graduates
- Add to and refine our network Partners across the valley that provide externships and employment to our students and graduates
Almost every quarter, the Career Services team hosts a themed Meet and Greet. This opportunity allows for an informal Question & Answer session, as well as reminding our students of the appreciation we have for the choice they made to pursue their education at Arizona College. So often, questions go unasked out of uncertainty of whom to ask or if it sounds like a silly question. There is no such thing as a silly question. Career Services is here to guide our students towards their destination and asking for directions along the way is welcome, accepted and encouraged!
Recently, in celebration of Cinco de Mayo, the Career Services team hosted a chips and salsa Meet and Greet. It was a great time and the Career Services Department was able to interact with students from all programs. One of the topics that was discussed was, “How to have a successful Externship” as it is the final class required in the journey towards graduation and employment. Savoring a tasty treat while being informed of the goals is a great way to stimulate the mind!
So, if you have not met your Career Services Coordinator, we encourage you to do so as soon as possible! You can call or stop by the Career Services Department. For information regarding the date and time for the next Meet and Greet, contact your Career Services Coordinator.
