The teachers and administration of Arizona College really do care about us. In my first month, the Dean had a 1-on-1 meeting with me to see how I was feeling. I don’t think I could find that level of support anywhere else.

Admissions Requirements: GPA and Assessment Score

High school or college cumulative GPA of 2.75 is required for our BSN program and a weighted composite score of 60% on the HESI A2 Admissions Exam. GPA requirements will be waived if HESI A2 weighted composite score is ≥75%. GED’s are also accepted.

It’s worth knowing that admission requirements and transfer credit evaluation are two separate processes. Admission is based on your GPA, HESI A2 score, and required documents.

If you have prior college coursework from an accredited institution, those credits may apply to the general education portion of the program and could reduce the time before you begin core nursing courses. For a full breakdown of eligibility requirements and the evaluation process, visit our transfer credits page.

At AZCN, you’ll quickly discover what makes our nursing program a favorite among students. From exceptional education to mentorship and career-ready skills, our graduates consistently praise the hands-on learning and personal connections they build here. With small class sizes and dedicated instructors, every student gets the attention and support they need to succeed. And with clear admission requirements and a team ready to help, getting started is easier than you’d expect.

About the HESI A2 Exam

The HESI Admission Assessment (HESI A2) is a standardized entrance exam used by nursing schools across the country to evaluate academic readiness. Arizona College of Nursing requires a passing score as part of the admissions process. The exam covers core academic areas including math, reading comprehension, vocabulary and general knowledge, and anatomy and physiology.

What does a typical week look like at AZCN?

Nursing Colleges in Tucson AZ for Nursing Salary

Your schedule will look different depending on where you are in the program. During your first year, general education courses are held in the evenings, with a mix of in-person, online, and blended class formats. The coursework in this phase is designed to fit alongside other responsibilities, giving students more flexibility than later terms.

When you move into core nursing coursework in your second year, your schedule becomes more structured and the time commitment increases. A typical week might include time on campus for lectures and lab work, plus dedicated clinical hours where you’ll begin working directly with patients under faculty supervision. By your third year, clinical experiences make up a significant portion of your week as you prepare for professional practice.

Schedules vary by campus and may shift slightly by semester. Your admissions advisor can give you a clearer picture of what to expect at your specific location and walk you through any admission requirements you still have questions about.

How does AZCN set you up for success?

Your support system is ready when you are. Once you’re enrolled, you’ll learn in the classroom, simulation and learning laboratories, clinical agencies, the community, and online, with foundational skills applied to real-world scenarios that today’s employers value. Student success coaches work with you one on one to help you stay focused and navigate any challenges that come up along the way. Tutoring sessions give you targeted academic support when you need it most. Peer mentoring connects you with fellow students who understand what you’re going through firsthand. And NCLEX-RN exam prep helps ensure you’re ready to pass your licensing exam when the time comes.

Everything we do is designed to prepare you for your career as a registered nurse (RN). The skills you build here are highly sought after by today’s employers.
