30 Week Program With Flexible Start Dates
Medical Billing and Coding (or Health Information) is an allied health field that can allow you to enter the medical field without providing direct patient care. Arizona College’s Medical Billing & Coding diploma program features an off-campus, 5-week clinical externship that provides you with real-world experience in the field of medical information. Including the externship, the program length is approximately 30 weeks (6 quarters).

Training to Become a Medical Biller and Coder
Arizona College’s Medical Billing & Coding diploma program prepares you to be a medical biller and coder. Through completing the required coursework, you’ll gain a solid foundation in medical terminology and diagnoses, anatomy and physiology, medical coding protocols, and medical billing procedures. Though certification is not a requirement to become a medical biller and coder, Arizona College encourages our graduates to pursue certification to further establish their credentials and increase the odds of finding a job.

To assist our medical billing and coding students in their success, Arizona College offers industry-specific training on skills and knowledge that medical billers and coders use every day such as:
- Medical terminology.

- Specific billing requirements for insurance companies, government entities, and various health care facilities, like hospitals and outpatient clinics.
