# The Benefits of Earning a Degree in Medical Assisting

Going back to school is a big decision. And with the economy in a slump, many
Americans – young and old – are considering degree programs in the healthcare
industry. In demand, jobs in fields such as Medical and Dental Assisting and
even Phlebotomy are becoming more and more popular. But even if the thought of
going back to school has crossed your mind, you may be wondering whether it’s
worth the investment. Here are a few pieces of information to consider before
making a decision.

The healthcare field is expanding due to an aging and growing population, and
specialized careers in healthcare are in demand. In fact, according to the US
Bureau of Labor Statistics (
[www.bls.gov](https://www.bls.gov/ooh/healthcare/medical-assistants.htm)),
Medical Assisting is a field that is expected to grow within the next five
years. Obtaining a degree as a Medical Assistant could be a good career move for
you.

Though the job sounds great, you still may be hesitant to go back to school.
Whether you’re worried about tuition costs or just finding the time to attend
classes, believe it or not – it’s easier than you think to earn a degree in
Medical Assisting. At Arizona College of Allied Health, our Medical Assisting
Degree program is approximately 60 weeks; with flexible class schedules offered
during the morning or evening. Arizona College of Allied Health even has
financial aid available to those who qualify to help pay for tuition.
