# Program Spotlight: Dental Assisting

Dental Assisting is the perfect career path for those who possess excellent
communication skills, are good at multitasking, and enjoy working one on one
with patients. Dental Assistant duties range from direct patient care to record
keeping.

The Dental Assistant program at Arizona College sets students up for success by
training them on the various instruments used in a dental office, how to perform
daily tasks, assist the dentist during procedures, sterilize equipment, interact
with patients, and everything else needed to keep a dental office running
smoothly. The Dental Assistant has a great deal of interaction with patients,
including supporting the patient during dental procedures, taking X-rays, and
providing patients with postoperative instructions and general oral health
information.

At Arizona College, specialized programs offer convenient morning and evening
classes to help students quickly begin a rewarding career in Dental Assisting.
The

is four quarters, or ten weeks, in total. After students complete the on-campus
portion of the program, each student participates in an off-campus clinical
externship for eight weeks to gain real-world experience before entering the job
market.
