# Types of Nurses and Different Career Paths

In addition to working in an extremely rewarding field, Nurses enjoy the benefit
of being able to choose from a wide range of career paths that offer diverse job
environments.

## Different Types of Nurses

Not all Registered Nurses work in a hospital environment. Offering a fair amount
of autonomy, RNs can work in home healthcare services, which includes providing
care for patients who have recently been discharged from the hospital and are
recovering in their own homes.

Many RNs _do_ work in hospitals and other round-the-clock facilities, but if
these hours aren’t for you, working in a physician’s office can be an excellent
solution. Physicians typically have office hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and
eight-hour shifts tend to be the standard.

For those who want to explore and travel throughout the states, Travel Nursing
can be a highly rewarding career. Travel Nurses take on short-term assignments
in various locations throughout the country. Job assignments can last for as few
as eight or as many as 26 weeks. Typically, Travel Nurses enjoy free housing,
relocation costs, and sign-on/renewal bonuses.

Arizona College has recently added a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
program to its offering of allied health degree and diploma programs. The BSN
program provides hands-on training and real-world Nursing experience via a
clinical externship to prepare students for a fast-paced, rewarding career in
Nursing.
