30-Week Medical Billing and Coding Program
Medical Billing and Coding (or Health Information) is an allied health field that can allow you to enter the medical field without providing direct patient care. Arizona College’s Medical Billing & Coding diploma program features an off-campus, 5-week clinical externship that provides you with real-world experience in the field of medical information. Including the externship, the program length is approximately 30 weeks (6 quarters).
Not only is medical billing and coding a a popular job choice, but it is also one that can provide great flexibility and benefits. There’s a variety of pathways and environments to choose from, including remote / in-office positions, full and part-time options. Work environments can include clinics, physician offices, hospitals, and insurance or billing companies.
Upon successfully completing the program, graduates are encouraged to pursue medical billing and coding certification through the American Academy of Professional Coders, American Health Information Management Association, or the American Medical Billing Association.
Training to Become a Medical Biller and Coder
Arizona College’s Medical Billing & Coding diploma program prepares you to be a medical biller and coder. Through completing the required coursework, you’ll gain a solid foundation in medical terminology and diagnoses, anatomy and physiology, medical coding protocols, and medical billing procedures. Though certification is not a requirement to become a medical biller and coder, Arizona College encourages our graduates to pursue certification to further establish their credentials and increase the odds of finding a job.
